HydroPulse™ Drilling

Tempress’ HydroPulse™ tool consists of self-actuated valve that periodically interrupts the flow of fluid.   Stopping the flow generates a water-hammer pressure pulse above the valve and a suction pulse below the valve. The impulsive pressure acts to increase drilling rate of penetration. These tools are rated for high-pressure, high-temperature operation.

Pressure drilling tests in shale and hard sandstone have verified  large increases in rate of penetration at high mud weight and borehole pressure.  The HydroPulse™ tool provides:

• 33% to 200% increased rate of penetration in deep formations
